Gaylord Perry was a great baseball pitcher, even voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Alas, he was a terrible hitter, typically taking three wild swings without making contact. A good morning, good afternoon and good night.
A reporter was talking to manager Alvin Dark during batting practice. Perry was up and hacking away and the reporter asked Dark if Perry would ever be able to ht a home run.
Dark scoffed and said that a man would walk on the moon before Perry would hit a home run.

On 20 July, 1959, Neil Armstrong walked on the moon.

20 minutes later, Gaylord Perry hit his only lifetime home run.
